Sore Feet

One out of every
six adults suffers from foot problems. More than 11 million seniors or
one out of every three people over 65 years old experience constant
sore feet that hurt. A large proportion of those with foot problems are
women who wear shoes that are too small for their feet. Specially
designed shoes for sore feet can help to solve these problems.
Some of the common
types of sore feet or other foot problems are listed below but each of
them also have a specific sore feet remedy.
Fore
foot pain
Fore foot pain in
the "ball of your foot", that area between your arch and the toes is
generally called metatarsalgia (met'-a-tar-sal'-gee-a). The pain
usually centers on one or more of the five bones (metatarsals) in this
mid-portion of the foot.
Heel
spurs and heel pain or Plantar fasciitis
The pain is usually
centered just in front of the heel and on the bottom of the foot
towards the arch. It can also be on the entire bottom of the foot. Or,
one might experience heel pain with the first few steps taken in the
morning. The most frequent cause of nagging heel or arch pain is
plantar fasciitis — an inflammation of the plantar fascia,
the thin band of connective tissue that runs along the bottom of the
foot. A telltale symptom is sharp pain in the arch when getting up in
the morning or after prolonged inactivity.
Cavus
Foot or rigid high arch
Your foot has a
raised area in the insole that forms the arch in each foot. When the
arch is higher than normal, the foot is “Cavus”.
When a person with Cavus Foot stands, the heel and toes are drawn
inward and sometimes cause a claw toe appearance. A Cavus Foot can
appear to have a very high arch and the foot tips to the outside.
Flat
Feet
Flat Feet or
“Fallen Arches” effect people who do not have a
space on the inner side of their foot where the bottom of the foot is
off the ground. Your arch develops between the ages of 3 to 10. Those
who do have a low arch, or no arch at all have flat feet.
Stiff
big Toe or Hallux rigidus
This is an
arthritic
condition that affects the main joint of the big toe normally caused by
wearing out of the joints, which is common to most arthritis
conditions. It has no definite cause and may result from injury,
infection or a medical condition such as gout or just plain age. It
produces a pain or stiffness in the big toe. In some people a bony bump
may develop on the top of the joint.
Factors
causing sore feet and foot problems
Tight calf muscles,
shoes with little arch or heel support, too much physical activity,
going barefoot and being overweight all can contribute to sore feet or
foot problems.
Weak
foot muscles: Foot muscles
absorb some of the impact that is otherwise placed on the fascia. Weak
muscles cause the fascia to absorb the impact. This cause often
surfaces when someone starts a new activity.
Tight
muscles: Tight calf muscles
place more strain on the fascia. Increasing workout intensity or
duration without proper stretching of the Gastrocnemius can induce this.
Shoes:
: Worn shoes may be too flexible in the middle of the arch causing
increased tension on the fascia.
Increase
in intensity or duration of exercise:
Increasing running distance, length of a workout, or intensity can put
more stress on the fascia, and cause Plantar Fasciitis.
Weight:
Increase in weight can add tension to the fascia.
